Art Supervisors Association/ BOCES Professional Development Workshop Merrick Avenue Middle School Room 243 4 PM - 6 PM During this hands-on workshop, participants will be taught how to create a Papier Mache Animal Busts inspired by a piece of literature. Participants will learn how to use animals to metaphorically represent themes or characters from books. poems, or short stories. Using recycled materials for the armature. participants will learn how to create a 3-D structure to be covered in paper mache. Rather than paint the finished product, participants will be shown how to use discarded books to finish their piece. This lesson can be adapted for elementary through HS levels. This sculpture project includes interdisciplinary elements, and can be aligned with Common Core standards. Below you will find the lesson plan, resources, and rubric.
