SCULPTURE 1
Grades 10, 11, 12 Semester Course 1/2 Unit This course is an introduction to three-dimensional design. Building techniques using media such as clay and plaster will be utilized. Students are encouraged to think independently, use creative problem solving skills and experiment. Prerequisite: Studio-in-Art or teacher approval. SCULPTURE 2 Grades 10, 11, 12 Semester Course 1/2 Unit Recommended to be taken as a connected course to Sculpture 1, students will continue to hone their skills of working with three dimensional media. Elements of human portraiture, still-life, and mold making will be explored. Prerequisite: Sculpture 1. |
CULPTURE 3
Semester Course Grades 11, 12 1/2 Unit The Sculpture 3 students will explore ways to better express emotion, create narrative, and be more symbolic in their sculptures. There is more freedom for students to go in their own direction while developing a concentration of works with a connecting theme. Students will have the option to create an Advanced Placement portfolio with the chance to receive AP credit. Prerequisite: Sculpture 2. SCULPTURE 4 Semester Course Grades 11, 12 1/2 Unit Recommended to be taken as a connected course to Sculpture 3, students will continue to develop their own styles, push the limits of scale and size, and explore new media such as stone, wood and welding. Students will be inspired by sculptors throughout history and work in many styles from realism to abstraction. Prerequisite: Sculpture 3. |
